New Delhi: NDA MPs from Bihar staged a protest in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi inside the Parliament premises demanding support price for paddy to the farmers of the state. They also raised the issues related to farmers in the Lower House.

The MPs had already raised the issue of lack of urea, DPA and phosphate during the Monsoon Session of the Parliament. At that time, a delegation of MPs had met Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers Srikant Kumar Jena.

Following Jena’s intervention, an attempt was made to remove the backlogs of fertilisers supply in the state.

The situation had worsened in Rabi season following the non-availability of fertilizers, due to which black marketing of fertilizers was rampant in the state which led to spike in its prices.

Under the leadership of JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav, MPs sat on a dharna at Gandhi’s statue inside the Parliament premises on Thursday morning.

Parliamentary Party leader Ramsundar Das, Ranjan Prasad Yadav, Monazir Hasan, Baidyanath Mahto, Dinesh Chand Yadav, Maheshwar Hazari, Meena Singh, Ashwamegh Devi, Kaushalendra, Ali Anwar and Anil Sahni took part in the protest. Later, BJP’s Shahnawaz Hussain, Kirti Jha Azad, Uday Singh and Rama Devi also became part of the protest.
