Kathmandu: In the largest ever seizure of drugs in Nepal's history, authorities on Sunday arrested five people allegedly trafficking 2,600 kg of hashish.

The five have been dispatching the narcotic drugs to various international destinations including India through land route, the police said.

The drugs were hidden in 88 plastic bags, according to Police Drug Control Unit.

Those arrested are learnt to have been linked with drug trafficking for many years, police said.

The arrested have been identified as Hasta Bahadur Rumba, Tirtha Bahadur Rai, Bire Lama, Chandra Bahadur Gole and Kumar Lama.

The police said the matter is being further investigated.
