New Delhi: In a somewhat unique incident, a Nepali filmmaker named Ganga Bahadur Bhandari alias Dai was arrested by the Vehicle Theft Prevention Unit at Anand Vihar Bus Stand. So far he has sold about 1000 vehicles in Nepal.

Ganga had produced a Nepali film ‘Unko Samjhanama’ and a serial ‘Wakra Rekha’ under Nepali banner Jayant Film production. The Police recovered an Alto car and fake currency of Rs 8 lakh from his possession.

According to the police, “Ganga is a Nepali citizen and is only 3rd standard pass. His father Mann Bahadur Bhandari had served as a member of the Indian Army Gorkha Regiment.”

“He first came to Delhi in 1985, when he was only 10 and worked as waiter in Mini Mahal hotel. Then he went back and again came in 1995 when he met Gurmeet Singh, whom later Bihar police arrested in a fake currency racket. Gurmeet introduced him to vehicle theft and then Ganga started selling cars in Nepal, “added the police.

Eastern District Deputy Commissioner Prabhakar said, “He is selling these stolen cars in Nepal for the past 16 years.”
