New Delhi: The New Delhi Railway Station on Wednesday received the National Tourism Award 2010-11 for the best tourist-friendly station for the second time in a row.

The Steam Loco Shed, situated in Rewari, which is known for its uniqueness in the world, bagged the second national award. 

Addressing a press conference, Managing Director Ashwini Lohani said, "We have tried our best to facilitate passengers. We have constructed spacious waiting halls and a foot-over bridge for the tourists.”

“We have made a lot of changes at Ajmeri Gate and Pahar Ganj exits of the station. We have provided passenger with air-conditioned retiring rooms, prepaid and radio taxis, reservation and train status on LCD screens, and proper cleanliness at station premises.”

The awarded Rewari steam loco shed has also been developed as a heritage tourist destination.

On the other hand, Delhi Tourism received the National Tourism Award for “Journey of Heritage”.
