Sources said CCTNS is a Mission Mode Project coming under the national e-governance plan of the Central government.

Director General of Police P Amaraj, chairman of the Puducherry Police e-governance Society and Venkat Patnaik, vice-president of NIIT Technologies Limited signed the MoU.
This will serve as the system integrator for the crime and criminal tracking network facility. The firm would install the system in all police stations and also in offices of senior Police officials.

Police officers would be trained in the nuances of the operation of the system. Through this facility all police stations, circle offices, district headquarters and other offices of police departments in all States and Union Territories will also be connected, sources said.
The networking of all 91 police stations in the Union Territory would be completed in three months.
