Kumar, a member of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and president of South Indian Artists Association, was presented with an Assembly proclamation at the State House in Trenton over the weekend.
Deputy Speaker of New Jersey Assembly Upendra Chivukula presented the proclamation signed by Speaker of the House Sheila Oliver in the Central Assembly hall.
Kumar has done good service to his constituency and also was elected president of the South Indian Film Artists Association for the third consecutive term. He was a Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha, the Upper House) and endeared the Indian politicians from Prime Minister to the chair of the Upper House with his suave manners and sterling qualities, the proclamation said.
Kumar also held discussions with New Jersey state secretary of agriculture Douglas H Fisher, Chivukula, Jayanth Vilayanur, chief information officer of the department and Alfred Murray, assistant secretary of agriculture on the latest methods used by the state to increase crops, storage and preservation, irrigation and use of bio-fertilizers. He sought the technical know-how of New Jersey to Tamil Nadu on storage and scientific farming.
