Bhopal: In order to bring transparency in the MNREGA programmes and facilitate the timely payment of wages to the labourers, an audit and financial software is being developed. The new software will help in clearing the payment to labourers within a range of 5km.

Government has decided that the payment to the labourers would be done through Bank or Post Office following which the medium of Service Area approach is being developed.

It would be then the responsibility of the Banks to ensure the availability of wages to the labourers coming under their service area. And for the areas where the banks do not have branches, it has to be assured that the payment of wages would be done through mobile banking, bio metric ATM and business correspondence.

It has also been decided that the national-level cooperative bank, Central Bank of India should coordinate with other bank for making the payment.

The directions have been issued to the Superintendent Engineers, Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers to speed up the process of payments to the labourers working under the MNREGA.

Superintendent Engineers have been directed to hold a monthly meeting to monitor the progress.
