Sprinkles opened its cupcake ATM on Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Tuesday. Customers may choose from flavours such as red velvet, peanut buttercup, lemon meringue and Cuban coffee.

Up to four of the generously portioned treats may be purchased at one time. They cost USD 4.25 each.

“Once a customer chooses a flavour, the robotic arm goes to that location, pulls the cupcake, keeps it level in its perfect little box and delivers it to the door and there you go,” said Mara Weber of Sprinkle Cupcakes.
Curious customers eager to see the strange machine lined up at its unveiling on Tuesday to get a glimpse and a taste. The machines can hold 760 cupcakes.

Next month, the machine will also start selling brownies, cookies and even doggie baked goods. Nelson, co-owner, said he got the idea for the ATM when his wife, Candace was pregnant with their first child.
“It was the middle of the night, and my wife really wanted a cupcake. I own a cupcake shop and couldn’t even get a cupcake!”
