Bhopal: At a time when Madhya Pradesh government has been observing ‘Beti Bachao Abhiyan’ since October 5, not many seem to be drawing inspiration from the praiseworthy campaign.

In a shocking event, a newborn girl child was found buried alive under the ground in village Borhada of Burhanpur district on Thursday.

The Shikarpura police told the reporters that the baby girl has been recovered and is presently under medical observation.

“I heard crying of a baby while I was going towards my farmland. I was shocked when I saw a newborn girl buried alive,” said a villager Vasudev Raghunath adding “Thereafter, I informed the police about the issue.”

According to the doctors, the condition of the baby is stable and she is just 1 or 2 day old.

“The tragic event shows that our society is dodging to take responsibility of daughters”, said School Education Minister Archana Chitnis after seeing the child in the hospital.

A case has been lodged against the unidentified parents of the child.

“The child can be further moved to Indore for better treatment,” said Inspector Amit Tiwari on Friday. While talking to reporters here Tiwari said that the child will not be entrusted to her real parents even if they want her custody.
