Moderate exercise and increased cardiovascular fitness can help those with family history of high blood pressure to significantly reduce their risk of developing the disease, say researchers. In a study of more than 6,000 people, those who had a parent with high blood pressure but were highly fit had a 34 per cent lower risk of developing high blood pressure themselves, compared to those with a low-fitness level who had the same parental history.

Typing the perfect text to a woman they want to woo, can be a puzzling and infuriating task for men, according to a new survey. In a recent survey conducted by a website majority of participants agreed that writing a message containing ‘just-the-thing’ was more of an issue than approaching a woman in the first place, a major newspaper reported.

A centuries-old diamond passed down through generations of European royalty fetched USD 9.7 million at auction in Geneva on Wednesday. The 35-carat "Beau Sancy" diamond was worn by Marie de Medici, Queen consort of Henry IV, at her coronation in 1610. Five bidders spanning three continents competed for the historic jewel at a Sotheby's auction where there was little evidence of the current global financial woes.

While fate determines some fertility factors, a new study has suggested that oral issues may play a key role. A recent Australian study compared rates of periodontal disease with the speed by which women conceived. Of 1,956 women (average age 31) seeking to become pregnant, 74 per cent had healthy smiles, while the remaining fourth had cavities.
