Patna: The Bihar government on Saturday warned that NGOs would be blacklisted if they failed to provide health services to people on time.

Speaking to reporters here, Health Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey said, "We will not tolerate any lapse on the part of any NGO engaged in reaching health services to the people on time and will not hesitate to blacklist them if they are found to be guilty."

On non-payment of mandays by one NGO for training over 80,000 Asha workers, he said since the organization failed to properly train the Asha workers, his department had withheld disbursal of payment to it.

"We are looking into complaints against such organizations and will take appropriate legal action at an appropriate time," he said.

The minister said the government was irrevocably committed to bring about a drastic change in the work culture of doctors and employees of the hospitals in the state.
