New Delhi: Following Supreme Court notice to the Centre on midnight crackdown on yoga guru Ramdev and his followers, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Monday issued notice to the Central Government, Delhi government and Delhi Police over the police action.

The midnight police action which involved firing tear gas shells and police lathicharge and forceful eviction of a large number of people sleeping under the pandal has come under scanner.

The NHRC has issued notices to the Union Home Secretary, Delhi Chief Secretary and the Delhi Police Commissioner asking them to explain reason for taking such a step.

The commission has asked Union Government to submit reports within two weeks and has sought the details of the number of people who were injured and were missing.

However, the National Woman Commission (NCW) has still maintained silence over the matter. It still has to clear stand over the issue.

Significantly, yoga guru Ramdev knocked at the doors of NCW and apprised it with injuries to women when they were forcefully evicted from the camp.

Meanwhile, the BJP women's wing president Smriti Irani on Monday demanded setting up a Commission for investigating the violation of constitutional rights of women.
