New Delhi: Amidst growing discussions over the safety and security of women, the National Human Rights Commission has once again apprised the nation that 40 percent of our children are living under precarious circumstances and chances of them being exploited is very high.

The Commission, in this regard, has suggested introducing a national child helpline, Children's Relief Fund and a national agency for searching missing children.

Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, Justice K G Balakrishnan said that the attitude of state governments towards child protection has been pathetic even though the child population of the nation is approximately 43 million and 40 percent of these children are living in adverse circumstances.

The Commission has already given several advises to the state governments in this regard such as setting up of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System for missing children.

It has also suggested to come up with an ideal methodology for Police departments and other related organisations.
