New Delhi: Defending the decision of not handing over the probe into Mumbai serial blasts to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Union Home Minister P Chidamabaram has said that the Maharashtra ATS, probing the blast trail, has done a satisfactory job till date.

“Maharashtra Chief Minister has informed him about the latest headways in the serial blast probe,” he said adding, “Every case is not required to be transferred to the NIA. There is no need to interfere with the investigations if they are on right track.”

Renewing his attack against the BJP for dragging him in the 2G spectrum scam, Chidambaram reiterated that the saffron brigade is targeting him just to divert attention from the several blast probes, which have established links of the members of Sangh Parivar to the blasts.

Notably, Chidambaram, a few days back, had accused the BJP of targeting him because his ministry has expedited the probe into Malegaon, Ajmer and Samjhauta train blasts.

Setting aside the allegations of the Opposition of his, and the Prime Minister’s role, in the 2G spectrum scam, Chidambaram said that some of the BJP leaders have told him in private conversations that they don’t believe he had any role in the scam.
