Muzaffarnagar: Nine police personnel were on Friday suspended after an undertrial prisoner escaped from their custody while being escorted from a local court in Saharanpur to the district jail here, officials said.

The prisoner, Abad, gave the policemen the slip on Thursday while being ferried along with 39 other undertrials from Saharanpur to Muzaffarnagar district jail, they said.
A case was registered today against the nine police personnel, including a sub-inspector, for alleged negligence of duty and all of them have been placed under suspension, the officials said.
A hunt has been launched to nab Abad, who is wanted in more than a dozen criminal cases.
