The legislators proposed the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2013. This new ordinance promulgated the new Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and laws related to sexual offences.

According to the law, convict can be awarded a life imprisonment or not less than 20 years depending on the brutality of the crime committed. Stalking has been considered as non-bailable offences and an acid attack convict can be sentenced upto 20 years in prison.

The government made many amendments to laws like:

1. The government ordered to install GPS devices in all the public buses.

2. Verification of the crew of all public transport vehicles are made mandatory.

3. The government also increased the number of women police officers

4. PCR vans and Home guards are also deployed in DTC buses.
