Ghaziabad: A 19-year-old student was allegedly gangraped by three men after she took an auto outside a mall in Ghaziabad.

According to reports, the Delhi resident, took the auto at around 8.30 pm to get back home after meeting a friend in Ghaziabad’s Shipra Mall.

Police have arrested the two accused- Ankit and Dabban, both residents of Masuri area in Ghaziabad. The auto had reportedly been stolen by three men, two of which pretended to be passengers. She got into the auto presuming that it was a "shared auto" since she was keen to reach home in East Delhi, police said.

The girl, who is claimed to be a class 12 student was reportedly gagged and beaten before being gangraped. The men later robbed the victim of all her cash and mobile phone before dumping her near National Highway 24.

Notably, the auto passed through multiple police check points during the two-hour journey before the men fled the spot at around 10.30 pm.

Reports said that the victim was found bleeding near the highway from where she was taken to the Masuri police station. Police registered a case of abduction, rape, robbery and voluntarily causing hurt against the three.

The Ghaziabad rape has brought back the memories of horrific incident of Delhi gangrape on December 16, 2012 in which a medical student was raped and brutally assaulted in a moving bus by six men. She battled for her life for several days before she died on December 29.
