Patna:  Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday expressed profound shock and grief at the death of veteran BJP and RSS leader Bal Apte.

"Apte was a renowned social activist... his death has caused irreparable loss to social and other fields in the country and Maharashtra," Kumar said in his condolence message.

Apte, a former Rajya Sabha member, died at a city hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday after a brief illness at the age of 73.
