Bhabhua: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday inspected various irrigation projects, including Jagdamba dam in Chainpur block, on the first day of his three-day seva yatra to Bihar's Maoist-hit Kaimur district.

Kumar inspected the progress of construction works at Jagdamba dam located on Kuhira river and an under construction reservoir in Barsati village soon after arriving here on the seva yatra amid tight security arrangements.

He later visited the site of Vishwakarma pump canal located in Durgawati block and directed Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary to ensure completion of Rs 118.15 crores irrigation project on time.

The Vishwakarma pump canal with storage capacity of 630 quesec water will provide irrigation water to 9000 hectare farmland in Ramgarh and Durgawati blocks of Kaimur district, officials said.

Kumar also paid obeisance at a mausoleum in Chainpur block.
