Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday recommended CBI inquiry into the killing of Dr. Bhudev Singh who was lynched by inmates inside the jail premises in Goplaganj.

Nitish also ordered a judicial inquiry into the Farbisganj police firing incident, which claimed four lives.

Addressing a press conference after holding his weekly ‘Janata Darbar’, Nitish said, “The Home Secretary Amir Subhani was rushed to Gopalganj after the incident to conduct probe. The government has taken the decision after he submitted his report. Singh’ family also met me demanding a CBI inquiry. As the government has no objection, we have recommended CBI inquiry.”

Dr. Bhudev Singh was lynched by a group of prisoners who had called him in their cell on the pretext of being ill.
Singh succumbed to the injuries while on way to Patna Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Giving details about the proposed judicial inquiry in Forbesganj firing  case, Kumar said the government has written to the Chief Justice of Patna High Court to name a judge for the inquiry.

Friday's firing incident in Forbesganj Industrial Area in Araria district happened when police opened fire on villagers who had attacked a starch factory which claimed four lives.
