Bhubaneswar: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will attend the Eastern Zonal Council (EZC) meeting scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar on November 24, official sources said.
    
Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda will also attend the meeting. Jharkhand Chief Minister has already confirmed his participation in the meeting while other CMs are yet to take a decision on attending the EZC meeting.
    
Besides CMs, the Chief Secretaries of the four eastern states and senior secretaries and police officers were scheduled to attend the meeting to be held at the secretariat.
    
Top officers of the Planning Commission and some officials of Central Ministries are also likely attend the meeting. The last EZC meeting was held at Ranchi in 2007. This time Odisha was hosting the EZC meeting here preparations for which were in full swing.
    
While Shinde is the Chairman of EZC, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is the Vice Chairman of EZC.
    
Besides, the issue relating to introduction of the GST by replacing VAT, coastal security and information sharing on criminals and crime relating to the eastern states of the country, will come up for review at the meeting, sources said.
