Samastipur: Slamming the Centre over its apathy towards granting special status to Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday voiced confidence that special status to the state would be granted soon by saying people of the state are entitled to get the ‘special state category’.

“Our priority is to seek special status for Bihar. We will continue our fight until we get our rights granted,” the Chief Minister said while addressing a rally during his ongoing Seva Yatra in Samastipur’s Rosda village.

Attacking the inter-ministerial group report constituted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to look into state’s demand, the Chief Minister said, “The group’s report has hurts the sentiments of the people of the state.”

The report has stated that Bihar cannot claim for this status since it has failed to fulfill three basic parameters required for conferring this status. The report rather says that there is a requirement of doling special grant to the state which is lagging behind on developmental front.
