Patna, Jan 17 (Agencies): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee have been selected for the Ramkrishna Vivekananda International Foundation (RKVIF) award in the statemanship category.

The duo were selected for the award by a 12-member jury comprising former bureaucrat C P Alexander and constitutional expert Subhash Kashyap among others, an official release said on Monday.

The jury has taken into account Kumar's efforts towards nation building and advocacy of development-oriented politics with a thrust of clean image, the release said.

Reacting to the award conferred on him, the Chief Minister said he dedicated it to 11-crore people who had contributed positively to public life and taken the state on the path of development and prosperity.

"The conferment of these awards has put more responsibility on me to stride forward to bring development laced with justice to the state and its people," he said.
