Gwalior: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s much hyped ‘Save the Girl Child Campaign’ received a jolt as a team of National Monitoring Cell (NMC) investigated several nursing homes and ultrasound centers here and found massive irregularities in conducting pre-natal tests.

The team has sealed seven ultrasound machines illegally conducting sex determination tests after making a surprise visit.

NMC member OP Bagri and R Asha made a surprise visit to the Parakh Ultrasound Center at Kampu and recovered four ultrasound machines out of which one was not registered. Even documents and records of patients were found missing.

The team also visited several other centers including Maheshwari Nursing Home and Kilkari.

Commenting on the issue, NMC member said, “The role of doctors is under scanner in conducting the sex determination tests.”

Notably, Gwalior and Chambal region has witnessed a huge gap in the sex ratio (1000/850) for a long time as parents prefer to abort girl child with help of ultrasound machines.
