Islamabad: Pakistan is committed to ending discriminatory practices against women, President Asif Ali Zardari has said. In a message on World Teachers Day October 5, the President said his government valued the importance of women, particularly in the education sector.

“Women empowerment and gender equality is all about human rights that lie at the heart of development,” the Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Zardari as saying.

“Efforts for gender equality are the key to improve economic, political and social conditions in the country,” he said.
