New Delhi: Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and Delhi Police are likely to get into confrontation over the constables travelling in the DTC-run buses for free.

Delhi government has made it clear if the Delhi Police personnel want to travel in DTC buses they have to purchase the proper tickets. The cash strapped DTC has going to start massive campaign against commuters caught without tickets from September 10.

Indicating towards Delhi Police, newly appointed Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami on Friday said, “Lots of people travel in DTC buses saying themselves as government officials. Conductors are required to ensure that every traveler can purchase the tickets.

During the meeting with Additional Transport Commissioner SM Ali and Chief General Manager AK Goyal, the Transport Minister directed that massive campaign be started from September 10 against those passengers having no tickets. Traveling without tickets causes huge loss to the DTC informed the minister.

Lots of ticket checkers will be deployed and people who travel without a valid ticket will be punished on the spot added the Transport Minister.
