"BJP has not done or indulged in any manipulative politics, as being done by Congress and will not not go back on the promises (make Modi as Prime Minster)" BJP National General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao told a press meet here. (Agencies)
He was replying to a specific question on reports that BJP is cashing in on Modi's popularity to install a senior most leader as Prime Minister.
Pointing out that the recent assembly elections results clearly showed people had 'absolutely' rejected Congress led UPA government and its brand of politics on issues like governance, corruption, divisive and blackmailing politics, he said voters had registered their anger against the party, which was not confined to North India, but a national phenomenon.
He claimed there is a pan-India attraction towards BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate and people wanted a successful, performing and acceptable leader at the helm of affairs, as they did not want 'anarchy.'
Asked about a national level alliance BJP would create which would accept Modi as PM, he said BJP was aiming 272 plus seats and the alliance--NDA, would add some more seats in the hustings.
To a question on how the party expected to perform in South India for Lok Sabha polls, Rao claimed the contribution from the South--Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka—to Delhi would be 'very significant.'
To a query on Karnataka Janatha Paksha leader and former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa being admitted back to the party fold, Rao said the party was not concentrating on it as such, but to regain its lost strength.
On the possible alliance in Tamil Nadu for the LS polls, he said something is 'definitely' happening in the State. "We have started the process of selecting candidates and at this stage it is not not proper to spell out the strategy."
