New Delhi: Women aspirants will have to wait more to increase their participation in Armed Forces and for direct entry to permanent commission as the Defense Minister AK Antony has denied any change in selection procedure.

“This decision was taken after thorough discussion on the comprehensive policy for the participation of women in the Armed Forces,” said AK Antony.

As per policy released on November 11, there is no change in selection process for women.

Women officers are commissioned permanently in branches of the Army like Judge, Advocate General, education core, signal, engineer, Army aviation, Army ordnance core, Army air defense, electronics and mechanical engineering, Army service core, medical, dental core, nursing  and intelligence provides permanent commissioning of women.

As per Defense Ministry data, from 2008 to 2011 apart from medical services 5156 women were hired in Army, 828 in Navy and 3697 in Air force.
