Agra: Four days after a Swiss tourist was allegedly gang-raped in Madhya Pradesh, a British tourist allegedly jumped from the hotel window in Agra to escape a sexual assault.

The 25-year-old female tourist was admitted in a serious condition in an Agra hospital.

According to the police, Jessica was staying on the first floor of a hotel in Agra’s cantonment area. She jumped off from the hotel window when someone suddenly broke into her room and tried to molest her.

"She got frightened so she ran to the other end of the room and jumped out of the window," Pawan Kumar, superintendent of police in Agra, said.

According to TV reports, the owner of the hotel was arrested.

The British Foreign office has said that it is investigating the matter.

The recent incident has yet again raised the question of safety of foreign tourists in India. The horrifying incident has brought back the memories of gang-rape of a Swiss woman in Madhya Pradesh on March 15. After the gang-rape rocked MP, the state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday had assured better security for foreign tourists.
