The north-eastern state of Assam has seen a series of violence ever since the Centre gave its nod to creation of Telangana.
Several tribal groups settled across Assam has demanded creation of new states on the lines of Telangana and the situation was pretty tense for a few days, with Karbi Anglong district of the state witnessing maximum unrest, chaos and destruction of public and private properties.
The situation, ever since the creation of Telangana has not been good either in the hilly regions of West Bengal with the locals settled over there demanding creation of separate state of Gorkhaland.
The Centre’s take on the issues of creation of new states comes against the backdrop of impasse, which is still continuing in Darjeeling hills and has thrown normal life out of gear in the region.
