Chandigarh: Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association has resolved that judges hereafter would be addressed as ‘Sir’ rather than ‘My Lord’ or ‘My Lordship’ in the High Court.

Issuing a press release, the Bar stated that the proposal in this regard was unanimously passed in the general meeting of the Association here on Thursday.

The Association has made this proposal mandatory for all the lawyers, stating that immediate action would be taken against those who would be found disobeying the rule.

Speaking on the ongoing hunger-strike by Anna Hazare, the Bar Association declared that it would support the anti-corruption drive.
The Association members, who urged the Central government to accept Anna Hazare’s proposals, gathered at Sector-17 Plaza to express their support to the social activist’s strike.
