Mumbai: The Bombay High Court’s decision on Thursday brought new troubles for Bollywood film director Madhur Bhandarkar. Dismissing Bhandarkar’s plea the High court denied any leniency for the National award winner director in a rape case and directed that the lower court’s order should be retained in the case.

In July 2004, actress Preeti Jain had registered a rape case against Bhandarkar in the Varsova Police station of Mumbai. Preeti stated that Bhandarkar had promised her a role in his film. She accused the ace director of raping her for 16 times from 1999 to 2004.

Last year, the Andheri Metropolitan Court considering Preeti’s case had ordered for a probe into the matter.

Bhandarkar’s lawyer however said that they would challenge the Bombay High Court’s order in the Supreme Court.
