New Delhi: In a boost to Yamuna clean-up drive, Union Water Resources Minister Harish Rawat on Monday directed Delhi and Haryana ministers that no waste products be disposed off in the river.

Rawat on Monday held a meeting with the ministers concerned. The main agendas of the meeting were to stop the disposal of filthy water in Yamuna and releasing required amount of water from Hathini Kund in the river.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit wrote a letter to Rawat. In which, Sheila Dikshit mentioned that Delhi is not using even 40 percent of water in its share, thanks to lack of proper storage system of Yamuna water.

Delhi CM informed Rawat that her government has constructed Munak canal which is ready to be operational. Haryana government is not releasing additional water, alleged Sheila Dikshit. As per the agreement, Haryana is supposed to supply an additional 80 MGD of water.
