Lucknow: In wake of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam in Uttar Pradesh, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths raided the residence of suspended Chief Medical Officer Dr AK Shukla and recovered important documents.

According to the CBI official, the raid was conducted after questioning several suspects in Lucknow, Muradabad, Kanpur and Ahmedabad who were linked with the NRHM scam. The investigation revealed that fake vouchers related to purchase of vehicles under the Mother and Child Welfare scheme were used to withdraw money.

Probing into the fake voucher case, the CBI sleuths raided Dr AK Shukla's house on Saturday and seized several files from his place.

After going through the files, the investigative agency has decided to quiz Director General (DG), Dr Ramji Lal, retired DG SP Ram and Dr Usha Narayan.

Meanwhile, the special Judicial Magistrate (CBI) Kamesh Shukla has rejected the CBI plea demanding judicial custody of Anand Prakash Tiwari, Vinod Sharma, RK Verma and Vijay Dubey, who are accused of killing Dr Vinod Kumar Arya and Dr VP Singh.
