Lucknow: The confessions of five Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) in the NRHM scam have further increased the woes of the former ministers of the Mayawati government allegedly involved in corruption.

The confessions of the CMOs is likely to tighten the noose around former BSP ministers Babu Singh Kushwaha and Anant Kumar Mishra along with the then Principal Secretary( Health) Pradeep Kumar Shukla.

According to reports, the CMOs posted in the districts of Mahrajganj, Varanasi, Shravasti and Gorakhpur have accepted in the CBI investigation on Tuesday that they had to accomplish work under the pressure of these two ministers and the Principal Secretary. Also, they had to allot the supply contract of drugs and medical equipments to the near and dear ones of these people in an illegal manner.

The CMOs have reportedly provided adequate proof to the CBI to corroborate their statements.

According to sources in the CBI, the agency may begin further arrests in the scam after Holi. The investigating agency also needs more evidence which it feels would collect in a week’s time, the sources added.

The CBI is likely to probe Babu Singh Kushwaha, Anant Mishra and Pradeep Shukla after Holi, the sources said, adding that the agency will further quiz the CMOs and four drug suppliers to strengthen the case against these suspects.
