Ghaziabad: A special CBI court on Monday directed the probing agency to conduct regular medical check-up of former BSP MLA Ram Prasad Jaiswal, accused in the multi-crore NRHM scam, after hearing the petition of his son.

Pritam, son of Jaiswal, in his petition, charged the CBI of ill treating his father in custody. He sought the court to conduct regular medical check-ups of his father as his kidneys were showing signs of depreciation.

Former minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and former BSP MLA RP Jaiswal were arrested on March 4 for their alleged involvement in the National Rural Health scam in Uttar Pradesh.

Kushwaha and Jaiswal are the first politicians to be arrested in the NRHM scam which relates to alleged swindling of over Rs 10,000 crore central funds allocated to the state under the mission for the period 2005-06 till date by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry.
