Ghaziabad: A special CBI court on Thursday extended till June 28 the judicial custody of former UP minister Babu Singh Kushwaha, BSP MLA Ram Prasad Jaiswal and 15 others in connection with the multi-crore National Rural Health Mission scam in Uttar Pradesh.

Special CBI judge A K Singh sent all the 17 accused, including senior IAS officer Pradeep Shukla, to 14-day judicial custody.

The CBI also submitted to the court several voluminous documents pertaining to the case.

Kushwaha and Jaiswal were arrested on March 3 in connection with the scam which relates to alleged swindling of over Rs 10,000 crore central funds allocated to the state under the mission.

Kushwaha is accused of abusing his official position to favour private companies while allotting contract for upgradation of 134 hospitals in Uttar Pradesh under NRHM.

The court has listed the matter for further hearing on June 28.
