New Delhi: In a major breakthrough in the multi-thousand crore National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam reported in April last year, it is supposed that the entire scam was plotted in Delhi based Uttar Pradesh Bhawan, the CBI sources said. State officials and suppliers had chosen UP Bhavan to plot the scam.

The CBI is now interrogating the UP Bhavan staff in order to hunt for the details of people who stayed here in past five years.

According to a senior CBI official, the CBI has also taken the visitor’s registers of last five years in its possession, which could be an important link in the scam.

Immediately after taking into custody the visitor’s register of UP Bhavan, the CBI summoned five employees of the Bhawan for interrogation. The list of employees included caretaker officer Sanjay Choudhary, manager Govind Ram including  three receptionists Rambahal, Parasnath and Rakesh.

A senior official of the investigating team said, “The details like appearance and behavior of the guests mentioned in the visitor’s register are being collected from the summoned UP Bhavan employees.”

It is obvious that the visitor’s register and the statements of the UP Bhavan employees will become crucial evidence in linking the accused in the high-profile NRHM scam.
