Mumbai: The National Sports Club of India, where a top class indoor Sardar Vallabhai Patel Sports Complex is nearing completion, is keen on hosting a Super Series Badminton Tournament next year once the facility gets ready by November.

"We are all set to complete the construction of the stadium by November. We are keen to host a lot of international events including badminton, table tennis, squash, volleyball, basketball,"said NSCI Chairman Bipin Mehta and announced that the hosting of the All India Ranking Badminton tournament will be from August 27-31.

"Once completed, the indoor stadium can accomodate 9000 people,"he said.

Sunder Shetty, joint tournament director, said that a total of eight badminton courts can be laid inside the multi-purpose stadium.

Maharashtra Badminton Association president Pradeep Gandhe said the badminton courts, three in number currently, have earned the praise of shuttle legend Rudy Hartono who was here recently for conducting a coaching clinic.

"Rudy Hartono was very impressed with the courts,"said Gandhe.

Gandhe also added that badminton's major sponsors Yonex were not only keen on hosting a Super Series event here next year but also the 2014 World Championship.

"The Super Series event has to be bid for by the Badminton Association of India which then would allot it to one of its affiliates. Yonex, the sponsors of major badminton events, are very keen that not only the Super Series but also the 2014 World Championship be held here,"he said.
