New Delhi: The Health Minister’s grudge over poor treatment provided to patients in government hospitals is really convincing. Nursing assistants, who are supposed to serve sick people of Lok Nayak Jaiprakash(LNJP)  Hospital have to work in laboratories. It seems that doctors and other health staffs are playing jokes with those patients who are battling for their life.

For example, the nursing assistants are supposed to assist the patients but it is shocking that they have been engaged in  odd jobs for the government high officials and other senior administrative officials of the hospital these days .Moreover , two nursing assistants are employed with the IT Department irrespective of the fact that they don’t possess even the basic knowledge about this.

Health Minister Ashok Kumar Walia said, “This is a serious matter and actions would be taken against erring staffers.”

At present, there are 514 permanent and 119 temporary nursing assistants appointed in LNJP out of which about 120 have been shifted to other departments.

According to the RTI report, eight nursing assistants have been engaged in labs, 16 in laundry, 13 in canteen, 14 in other departments and many others in medical superintendents’ office. They are also said to be working in government secretariat.

When contacted, LNJP Medical Superintendent Dr Richa Diwan tried to escape from the truth by disconnecting phone calls.
