"Saina's achievement has made the state proud and she represents a new generation of Odisha who strive hard to prove themselves in different fields," Jamir said in his congratulating message to Saina on her return to the state.

Wishing her a bright future, Jamir hoped that the girl would achieve bigger milestones during her life.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said Saina is source of inspiration for all the children in the state.

Saina became the second player from the state after Padmini Rout to win a world championship title. Padmini won it in the U-14 category in 2008.

Saina topped the points table with 9 points after sharing points with Asadi Motahara of Iran in the 11th round.
