New Delhi: An Army Court of Inquiry (CoI) has recommended disciplinary action against 168 personnel including the unit’s commander in connection with the violent clash between officers and jawans in Ladakh last year.

According to reports, the Army is going to take strong disciplinary action in the form of court martial against 168 personnel including a colonel, two majors, a captain, 17 JCOs (junior commissioned officers).

Three officers and eight jawans including the commanding officer of the 226 Field Firing Regiment, had sustained serious injuries in the brawl that broke out in May last year at Mahe firing range near Nyoma in Ladakh.

On May 10 last year, a group of army officers and jawans clashed in an artillery regiment near Leh following an incident of alleged misbehaviour involving an orderly prompting the army to order a court of inquiry into the incident.

The Army had ordered a Court of Inquiry into a scuffle after the Ministry sought a detailed report from it on the incident.
