“My helicopter was 2 hrs late yesterday but I didn't think anything of it. Now it's raining today. I smell a rat. Where should I complain,” Omar tweeted.

The BJP on Tuesday approached the Election Commission on the issue. In its complaint to Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath, the BJP had alleged ‘conspiracy’ in delay in Modi's flight from Delhi to Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday that affected his election campaign as he reached hours behind schedule.

Seeking EC's intervention, BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi urged it to direct Civil Aviation authorities for early clearances to Modi, as he was the party's star campaigner and prime ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP also asked the Election Commission to ensure that such a delay would not happen again.

Modi, who has been addressing four election rallies everyday across the country, is scheduled to address more than 185 such poll rallies in the run up to the elections.

With flight delays hitting his campaign in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Modi on Tuesday attacked the Centre alleging a ‘conspiracy’ and demanded that Election Commission probe the matter.
