There were talks last year that Shivraj Singh could have been an alternative to Modi since he was expected to be more acceptable to BJP’s potential allies post the general elections.

In fact, while addressing a massive BJP workers' conclave in Gwalior in June last year, former deputy prime minister Lal Krishna Advani had not only pitted Shivraj Singh against Modi but had even drawn parallels between Chauhan and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

While taking a veiled dig at Modi, Advani had said that the one quality which he admired in Shivraj Singh was ‘humility’ just like Vajpayee.

However, with such rumours completely buried under the carpet now, the charismatic leader is now seen enchanting the NaMo mantra with all vim and vigour.

While praising Modi on Twitter, Shivraj Singh said the time has finally arrived when dreams of the nation would be realised.

“The entire nation has become hopeful of development now. The time to fulfil dreams has finally arrived. Under the able guidance of Modi, a new chapter of India’s prosperity would be written,” Shivraj Singh tweeted on Tuesday.

“The good days are here. It is the rising of a new era of development and prosperity for the nation. Modi government is coming,” he added.

Often lauded for turning the fortunes of Madhya Pradesh with his proficient leadership, it won’t be wrong to blame Shivraj Singh for harbouring dreams of Modi-like coveted position for himself at the national level in the future.
