Abdul Hamid, 24, was killed in the shelling. The official said the injured are being shifted to hospital for treatment. Defense spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta did not confirm civilian casualties on the Indian side, but said that the Pakistani Army is using 120 mm mortars while violating the ceasefire in Poonch district.

Reports said heavy shelling and firing exchanges between the two armies are continuing in the area now. Pakistan has last night used 82 mm mortars, RPGs and automatic weapons to target Indian positions.

"Pakistan shelling and firing started at 11 pm yesterday," Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said. He added, "Our troops are effectively and appropriately responding. Intermittent firing exchanges continued till today morning".
