Suri (WB): One person, stated to be a local Trinamool Congress leader, was killed in an armed clash between two groups at Labhpur in Birbhum district early.
Angry villagers later hurled stones at a police vehicle during a road blockade but there was no report of any injury.
Police said Chitto Mandal was declared dead after being taken to the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital early this morning.
Mondal had suffered bullet injuries during the clash over some local issue late last night and rushed to the hospital.
Villagers claimed he was a local leader of Trinamool and the clash was between two groups of the ruling party over a local issue.
As his body was brought to the locality this morning, villagers blocked the arterial Labhpur-Bolpur-Katwa Road and hurled stones at a police jeep.
The personnel, however, pacified the villagers and the blockade was lifted.
