New Delhi:  In order to mark the 150th anniversary of Madan Mohan Malaviya, the founder of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Prime Minister Manmohan Singh gave approval to constitute a National Implementation Committee (NIC) under the chairmanship of Rajya Sabha member Karan Singh.

Notably, the celebration would be continued for a whole year.

The NIC would consist of Union Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Culture Kumari Selja and Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.

Other members of the NIC would be BHU Vice Chancellor Lal Singh, PL Jaiswal of the Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya Mission, Justice (retired) Giridhar Malaviya, BSP leader and Lok Sabha MP Satish Chandra Mishra and UP Congress Committee chairperson Rita Bahuguna Joshi.

The NIC would draw the profile of all the programmes which will be organized during the one-year long celebration for Madan Mohan Malaviya. The Prime Minister is the president of NIC.
