Rajahmundry (AP):  ONGC's engineers arrested natural gas pressure ‘kick’ in its exploratory well Karvaka-1 near Malkipuram mandal in Krishna Godavari Basin, a press note released here said on Thursday.

The exploratory well Karvaka-1 at the target depth of 3880 meters while preparing for logging suddenly witnessed pressure. Such pressures incidents are normal, it said.

Rajahmundry Asset has trained personnel equipped with advanced blowout preventing mechanisms and disaster management plan in place, it said adding people need not panic over these incidents.

Logging is an exercise conducted by sending recording tools into the well hole to ascertain the extent of oil and gas availability.

Pressures which are more than the calculated ones and occur while drilling are called 'Kicks' in the industry nomenclature, the release said.
