New Delhi:  In order to have a common written examination (CWE) for nationalized banks, the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), Mumbai has started online registration from last Saturday. The candidates who will qualify the CWE would be eligible for the posts of Probationary Officers (POs) and management trainees in 19 national banks.

The last date for online registration, which started on July 9, would be August 1.

Allahabad Bank, Central Bank of India, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda and Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) are among the 19 national banks which will participate in the common entrance examination system.

The introduction of CWE is likely to unburden the applicants’ who had to take pain for filling up different forms for the different banks after the board for banking services recruitment was dissolved.

Earlier, post-graduation was the minimum eligibility for taking the bank exams but the same has been reduced and now graduation students can also avail this opportunity.

Besides, the relaxation has been given in age also; a 20-year-old candidate would be able to apply whereas it used to be 21 years.
