Latching onto this very trend, online shopping has become the buzz word across the globe in the past one decade, which has opened several options for the customers and manufacturers alike to do business in a hassle-free and more transparent manner.

India is one of the fastest growing economies and the vogue of online shopping has made an impressive foray in the commercial arena. Gone are the days when people used to visit shops and stores, scanning each and every product, bargaining with the sellers.

With internet bringing a change in the dynamics of business, the people are just a click away from picking up their favourite products. Further, options like cash on delivery and guaranteed replacement has made the process of online shopping pretty lucrative.

Dainik Jagran has conducted a survey to find out if online shopping is fab or fad among the people.

We conducted a widespread survey and came across some interesting results.  The survey, which was based on the sample results, hinted towards the booming e-market in India.

The survey was conducted among four age groups mainly below 15 years, 15-25 years, 26-34 years and above 36 years. Those between 26-34 years old, go for online shopping the most and stand at a decent 43 percent among the rest. The next in the tally is led by those between 15-25 years old, followed by the age bracket of above 36 years and those below 15 years finished below in the tally with a meager four percent.

One major factor, which possibly plays a key role in catapulting those between 26-34 years, is their healthy financial condition and a desire to explore new avenues.

The trend of online shopping has also been found on the rising side with people going for shopping more than twice a month, which stands at 39 percent. Given the fact that the national economy is not on the rising side, this figure is quite impressive.

Those going for online shopping like to purchase electronic products the most and the statistics at our disposal stands testimony to this fact. People visit several sites mainly to purchase electronic items. They even buy foot wears, book tickets and clothes.

Online shopping is an easier option and saves a lot of time and energy as well. It is perhaps one of the major factors, which has given a boost to the trend of online shopping.

According to respondents, most of the options provided in the e-commerce websites are correct and apart from availing the comfort of shopping from home, they get discount on products as well. The buyers

also get an opportunity to compare and review a number of products at the same time.

Another fact, which shows that online shopping is getting acceptance among buyers is the frequency of purchase. Based on what we have found, people visit the websites on a frequent basis these days. 38 percent respondents have bought products via online shopping this week.

E-commerce major Flipkart continues to be the most preferred website for those who are looking for online shopping followed by other well-known websites like Myntra and Snapdeal. People these days pay majorly via credit cards and debit cards. Cash on delivery mode is another preferred mode of payment after these two, which proves the fact that several myths and apprehensions associated with online shopping have subsided to a considerable extent.

Another finding from which e-commerce websites can gain confidence is that a whopping 53 percent of respondents rate their overall experience of shopping to be good. So, it can be undoubtedly said that online shopping is surely on the rise and it is here to stay in all probabilities. It can undoubtedly become the future of entire modus-operandi of business in coming times.

Having said all that, not everyone is in favour of online shopping. Buyers often worry about quality of products and a significant number of respondents do not find the process trustworthy.

Besides, the respondents also say that shopping directly from markets give them the scope of bargaining. Moreover, the buyers are of the view that they will not take any faulty products. And even if they do so, the sellers will replace it. In addition, there are certain buyers who have little idea about the e-commerce websites.
